of course, you should pop the filter bubble every now and then. poke your head out of the hole to see if you can see your own shadow. but you shouldn't subject yourself to a 24/7 firehose of everything.

people in the fediverse will spread misinformation about you and form their own bubbles without any reason

mastodon put community moderation power in the hands of many people who are not ready for such power and we have been paying the price for it since the 2017 influxes

the analogy is wonky because i'm not clever but you get the gist of it

it works very well for a very select few people and you will be yelled very loudly at if it doesn't work for you

mastodon is like email insofar as if all of Google was a gender studies major that blocked all of Yahoo for trimming their toenails in the students common area and warned everyone against Hotmail for being a libertarian and filtered it such that only a few emails made it there from them

sometimes i do lick my wounds too much. but that's abuse ptsd for you and it's hard to heal from

what's important is that i'm trying my best and that i know there are people who can see that despite everything else, so i know it's real and can ignore those who disagree.
