i did not make a whole lot of progress on my DOS project today but i made my workflow a little better and did some testing with PCem 👍

another reason why i don't want to use modern tools is that, say, the easy path of using DJGPP with GDB et al which you can already get an extension for is that DJGPP requires 386SX minimum because it doesn't make true DOS executables, but rather 32-bit protected mode binaries and i want to support XT-class machines

i'm sure there's better ways to develop for DOS with modern tools and forego borland turbo c++ entirely but also i want to use it because it's easier to find period documentation for it

i want to work on my DOS thing more but i don't want to type code in through dosbox but vscode c++ intellisense is too new to work with the borland headers and therefore just redsquiggles all of my code

i'm so glad it's easy to ignore the parts of mastodon you don't want to hear from

some of you tech guys need to get less annoying profile pics on here pronto

urgh i just want to be able to survive enough to make cool stuff

our tumblr handle is "maplesynth" and it gives us :allears: good system feels

(and yes palm OS also got the issue with the double res later in its life but at least the tungstens look nicer)

i wonder what compelled HP to release a windows mobile device with twice the resolution of standard devices at the time and not at least dress it up nice so that you have a random picking of icons in 2x while the others are in native res? windows mobile feels so drab in comparison to palm OS

Sometimes (often) I think I really want to buy a Game Boy Camera… but then I think about how I’d need a game boy printer, and paper, or maybe one of those devices to transfer the photos to a computer… then I just feel tired for a while and give up.

Fortunately there’s this cool site from @mavica_again. Open it on your phone and you have a pretty good approximation of the Game Boy Camera with some cool color filter options.
