@mavica_again this is, legitimately, a mouse cursor. it's included with the CD-ROM versions of Moraff's Mahjongg games.

it is the only time i've ever felt like my own mouse is getting in the way of playing the game and it is also the greatest thing ever

the @Codeberg status page says all systems are operational yet i can't seem to load any of their pages or repositories, is anyone else having issues or did my ip get blocked for being in the global south (not uncommon)

i dont trust a computer powerful enough to be working as well

So, when I think about what I should spend my time on, it’s not on software for old PCs, as much as they need it, because the complexity and burden of abandoned tooling is too great for one person. One day, not even GCC will run on, or compile for, Windows 10. #Linux is not the answer; It has less binary stability than Windows! I have a netbook with an i915 chipset which doesn’t work in Linux any more.

I’m looking at all my old computers that I need to decommission for scrap or giving away and it pains me that, whilst with a ton of time and effort I can get them running as well as possible, there is no practical use I can put them to; software has failed them.

A 10 year old computer is in many respects in a worse position than a 20 or 30 year old one because it’s software is built around the same principles of today, but is unusable slow for those tasks — an 8 bit computer is more useful than a Pentium 4 machine!
