I've gone through 3 million manuals in the Internet Archive's collections and produced a "Manuals Showcase", a few dozen manuals that are sure to catch your eye here and there. Readable online, downloadable, and ad-free.
@sarahzedig dont ya just *love* it when there’s bipartisan consensus to commit social murder! /s
Following up on my Google maps problem I see that both suggestions to change address to nearby businesses has gone through, but none of the suggested edits to apartment building address have gone through yet

Great news: Free KN95 masks are now available from public health vending machines in NYC.
This is amazing work! Not everyone can afford to buy high quality masks regularly. If we want more people to wear masks, high quality masks should be available for free everywhere. Having them in public health vending machines in NYC is a great first step!
In 1975, Icelandic women earned 40% less than men; today it is only 10%. A "Women's Day Off" strike was held in 1975; 90% of women refused to work. It shut down the country. In response Iceland passed a Gender Equality Act & elected a female president.

Protip: unless you're using Firefox (or one of its derivatives), you're using Chrome.
Don't tell people, "Stop using Chrome," because they'll inevitably end up with Vivaldi, Opera GX, Brave, or MS Edge (or god knows what else). All of these are Chrome.
Instead, tell them, "Switch to Firefox." Give them an idea in their head on what to switch to.
Yes I know I'm concealing the semantics. It's actually "based on Chromium" or whatever the fuck. Considering that Google is the largest contributor to Chromium, and pretty much has the sole responsibility in updating Chromium, and inserts all kinds of Google-specific shit into Chromium, the semantics are irrelevant. Chromium/Edge might as well be Chrome except blue, just like Opera/Vivaldi is Chrome except red, or Brave is Chrome except orange (with a side of homophobia, transphobia, and crypto scam), etc.
Here, look. No in-school infections in a primary school in Australia during the height of omicron. You know what they used to achieve this miraculous feat?
A smoke machine, CO2 detectors, and portable hepa filtration units that you just plug into an outlet and turn on. It's not even fucking hard! They weren't even aerosol engineers or infectious disease experts, they were teachers and parents! Lay people!

It has come to my attention that some of you are very concerned about data brokers collecting your data, but are not familiar with the work of @yaelwrites and the Big-Ass Data Broker Opt Out List. Please enjoy:

Anybody confused why people still listen to turntables or CD players forget that they never:
- stop working because they can't connect to WiFi
- stop working because they need a firmware update
- stop working because the manufacturer dropped support
- say "if you like Bach you might like Taylor Swift"
- play ads
- recommend "turntable premium"
