@philpem It was a shame that they had to rename it to Mandriva, but they were pretty on the nose as to the inspiration for the name ;)

Which of these computing devices do you have and use? (RT for sample size)

re: Ukpol, rant

@avon_deer @ret Sorry yes that is what I meant: people who are often considered middle class (people who own property/assets) are weaponised against themselves and people without.

re: Ukpol, rant

@avon_deer @ret Thatcher got what she wanted: a strong middle class that wasn't as principled as the lower class and could be manipulated.

re: Ukpol, rant

@ret I don't know if there was anything we could have done; we were shouting from the rooftops that it was a smear campaign, but the media at the time put its full weight behind it.

Ukpol, rant

The Labour Party being Tory-like was inevitable when Corbyn was forced out. Never forget that the establishment did EVERYTHING they could to smear someone who had most energised left wing politics in years and bent over backwards to people like Farage.

@trans_lykanthropie I'm really happy with it! I think I'm gonna have to order another one so I've got a spare ^.^

@avon_deer But then again it was like this when we were young; progress has not helped people.

@avon_deer It's kind of a failing of education as an institution to provide actual literacy programs, not just in IT but also in media.

The amount of people I meet at work who don't even know where they save their work, because Windows obfuscates it, is staggering and always ends up a problem when they can't find their very important files.

@avon_deer Honestly this was inevitable. The writing was on the wall when MS decided Windows 8 was a good idea; they were just ahead of the times. Had it released a few years later I reckon more people would have loved the Metro layout.

Also schools don't have enough funding to teach proper computer classes so they just end up being product training rather than literacy.

@philpem I don't remember which way around this was but it was either Mandrake 7.0 or SuSE 7.2, the latter bought with manuals from PC World.
