i think the primary "bad thing" about mastodon's twitter-like format is that you have to keep posting to stay relevant.

need to go offline for a bit? the service itself forgets about you as everything that you've made fades into the depths of the timeline.

@scarly gives me an easy way to fade back into comfy obscurity if I get strangely relevant though, but I'm probably one of the very few who might consider that a feature

@scarly its better than Twitter deciding who gets to be relevant and who doesn't with its not-timeline algorithm tweet sorting.

@scarly last year I toyed with the idea of writing a mastodon client that gives you more of a topic/email sort of interface, making an attempt to learn what YOU actually want to see and keeping track of what you haven't seen yet.

@scarly I don't worry. Most of my friends still know I exist.
