@zangetsu_MG @squirrel you are supposed to realize that as long as society AT LARGE penalizes people who are not white cishet men, and demands that they perform at a higher level just to be considered equal, we HAVE to take time to recognize their accomplishments; that's the ONLY way to make sure that eventually society at large DOESN'T systematically overvalue white cishet maleness.

@squirrel @zangetsu_MG you are supposed to realize that saying "I only care about their performance" opens the door for discrimination, because bias is often invisible to the people judging performance, and so history demonstrates that when presented with a white cishet man who's done X and someone who's not a white cishet man - on any axis - who's done an identical X, people will judge the white cishet man's X to be better than the competition.
