other admins: "here's how my instance is set up across load balancers and is scalable should we run into more traffic"

computer fairies admin: "um like everything's running on a single linode box and media is on aws i guess"

i think i'm happy enough with this either way, idk

it CAN be better and i'm sure there's some setting to fix this

but for now i'm just happy to have recreated the whole setup i had without having to use a barely configurable chinese router anymore

NAT loopback doesn't seem to be working though...?

ssh vps -> ssh my ext ip works
ssh my ext ip doesn't work
ssh internal server ip works

hmmmm but the nat loopback flag is set in the port forwards... hhhh

Show thread

aaaaa i think i figured the port forward thing out ??? i had to enable a thing not documented anywhere i could find

and i also went ahead and set up dyndns client so that should update automatically too now (though i think my server already did that but you never know)

pls don't make me look on irc for openwrt help that never ends well

wheres all the entitled nerds comin out the woodwork to help me forward ports dammit

i can't figure this thing out aaaa i need to be able to access my lan from outside to host minecraft and ssh to my stuff

hrrmm i can't seem to be able to reach my server from the outside world...

aha i think i did it :P just disable wan from wifi, because what was happening was wifi devices would actually get patched through to the wan zone instead of lan, which is odd but caused lan and wan devices not to talk to eachother

now wifi devices are going to lan and getting internet access properly :3 hopefully that solved everything

Show thread

ok so the server can be seen if i connect by cable to lan but not by wifi

both access points are set to use interfaces wan and lan, wan seems to be working fine since i can browse the internet from it, but nothing on lan shows up

what's the deal here/where in the openwrt wiki should i look to fix this?

Show thread

i think lan just isn't talking to each other at all?? cant find my local server there which should be taking 192.168.1.64

or the server just didn't bother retrying ethernet and now i have to reboot it?? idk
