"Oh god, my eyes!"
The colors are chosen randomly, with each color in a map being the other's complement. This occasionally is eye-searing. Sorry.

"What does chunky mean?"
Smaller maps are nicer to look at when they're blown up. If a map is chunky, each cell in the map is 2x2 instead of 1x1. Maps are made chunky if the average of height and width is less than 250px.
