@mavica I'm not sure if that would be any safer to be in or not
@jk Gotta go old school for that sort of longevity
1000 years sounds possible
Depending on your definition of computer it's already been done with the Antikythera mechanism
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism
Put that in a vault and not at the bottom of the sea and I bet it'd still work
More useful would probably be a Babbage Analytical Engine built with modern materials
Also the 556 with a red second hand is part of the official collection now, rather than a super secret special order option
NEW SINN WATCHES! 🎉
U50 series, basically a new, smaller version of the U1 line, 41mm case size, water resistant to 50 bar, comes in plain steel, plain steel case with PVD and TEGEMENT bezel, or full PVD and TEGIMENT
1739 series, new line of "classic" watches, 39mm case size, three different dial options, sunburst silver with gold indices, sunburst black with rhodium indices, and a relief dial

@mavica minidiscs were and continue to be super cool
I wish mp3 players took longer to get to market so minidiscs would have been more of a thing
there's also this which is a tide-time bezel but I've only ever seen that on this particular model of Sinn
Super cool though, even if it's of no use to me whatsoever
one that's missing is the Doxa-style ND bezel but that's incredibly niche and is basically just a count-up bezel with an extra bit around the edge for no decompression times
Ever wondered what the things around a watch face are for?
Mark from Long Island Watch made a good video on what all the different bezels do and how to use them
@envgen next year it will be revealed that hazel is, in fact, one of the trees at the front
@jk now you know why we were so concerned about getting all that tea
also we nicked an i from somewhere, we should probably give that back
@mavica you're cool of appearance
you've awakened the watch nerd
@lyliawisteria@weirder.earth that's not to mention all the other ways clocks help out
Navigation, for example. GPS for a start is just a bunch of clocks in a trenchcoat
Want to find your longitude at sea? Literally impossible without clocks
Most automation needs clocks too
Clocks: they're fucking awesome
you've awakened the watch nerd
@lyliawisteria@weirder.earth I'll jump in with a defence of the humble clock
They're great
They let you coordinate with other people, I mean if you're always on your own then maybe not but if you want to meet up with your mates at 6ish to go <activity> then clocks are what you want
Otherwise you have to be all "We'll meet up when the sun's about... thereish" and then it's cloudy and you either wait around for ages or they're waiting ages for you
@mavica same but watches
WHY MUST NICE PRETTY THINGS BE SO EXPENSIVE!?
mavica april #26
@mavica lovely picture of the moon
@cypnk if you take "sword fighting" to mean "sword fighting against trees" then that's quite useful
chopping down trees would come in handy
Hedgehog wrangler, cat feeder, octopus whomst love smol critters
