Another overlooked arcade classic, the three-player Super Off Road by Leland.
The story behind this license involves a chance meeting at a sushi bar. One day I hope to tell that story - had to cut this one from the book! #videogamehistory
@vga256 given the way capstone's SB/adlib music sounds in their other games, my expectations were never very high to begin with β
@vga256 daaamn, roland support, they were getting ritzy with that one

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Sewer music from the NES Terminator game, but it's a simple beat that never ends like they ran out of time before they could finish it.
So, using a NES soundfont, I had a go at making an actual tune out of it whilst also trying to crowbar the Terminator "motif" in there.
@loadhigh @likesoldmacs iirc MIDI synthesis is handled by the version of QuickTime installed on the system, so the music could sound radically different between a PB running System 7.x and an iMac running >OS 8.6. I think QT4 and up are using a General MIDI library that samples a Roland SC-55, which is roughly the same thing Windows was doing starting from around 2000 or so.
@ifixcoinops at least nobody is horny about any member of the Pacfamily. ...I hope.
They say big trucks are just a reality if you want to make deliveries in the city.
I say there's other ways to solve the "last-mile" problem...
There's your beer kegsβsorted.

βThatβs when Neil looked at the coin counter meter. it read β000001β:
And, sitting in the coin bucket was a single coin; a quarter dated 1983.β

@RealDaveRyder oof, that's a damning indictment of Ryder's sex life right there
Ya know what? I'm gonna toot my own horn today On Here Specifically.
I have already received at least a dozen thankful comments/replies for letting people know they can slow down door closers. A lot of people have been living with irritating bangs in apartment buildings and whatnot.
And thanks to watching a YouTube video, their life is now better. I didn't sell anything to them, I just decided to share some knowledge in my own (hopefully entertaining) way.
@atlasstorm yeah! the funny part about this device is I can beam it literally any file I want (via the Voice Recorder) but have no way to use any files that aren't specifically in WAV format. I could probably fill up its whole storage with a copy of Doom and not be able to run it without Explorer or a Run dialog box.
Alas, 1999 PDA, cable is 100% proprietary (and serial!) so would need someone who knows what they're doing (ie. not me) to kludge one together - ebay sure ain't got any!
After playing through The Crimson Diamond by @JuliaMinamata, I just had to see the game's gorgeous EGA artwork on a real CRT! So I took a couple screencaps from the game, nearest neighbor scaled them down and cropped them to 320x200, converted to PCX and copied them over to my IBM PC/AT on floppy disk. This is a real EGA monitor and you can see the beautiful scanlines. Now I can imagine what it'd be like to play the game on an old PC back in the day. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1098770/The_Crimson_Diamond/
