@jplebreton yeah... somebody showed me that yesterday and i was left wondering, "ok, but why?" rendering a 3D video game is more or less a solved problem, absolutely trivial. why complicate it that much for no benefit whatsoever? i even tried reading their abstract, and could not make any sense of what they thought this was good for.

i grew up with the master system version of olympic gold. i didn't find out until like over a decade later that there was also a mega drive version, and that menu title arrangement always sounded wrong to me. anyway here's my arrangement of the master system version more or less how it played out in my head

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Sewer music from the NES Terminator game, but it's a simple beat that never ends like they ran out of time before they could finish it.
So, using a NES soundfont, I had a go at making an actual tune out of it whilst also trying to crowbar the Terminator "motif" in there.
@loadhigh @likesoldmacs iirc MIDI synthesis is handled by the version of QuickTime installed on the system, so the music could sound radically different between a PB running System 7.x and an iMac running >OS 8.6. I think QT4 and up are using a General MIDI library that samples a Roland SC-55, which is roughly the same thing Windows was doing starting from around 2000 or so.
