A man discovers through a DNA test he is actually the son of a famous #DOOM mapper known as Dr. Sleep who had sadly already passed away by the time he found out. What follows is his discovery of Doom and the vibrant mapping scene that has continued to this day so he builds his first Doom map to better understand the father he never knew:
Red Five, Iβm going in! A Star Wars arcade classic #NerdStitch from my collection. This is all back stitches, instead of cross stitch. It worked great to recreate the vector graphics. I did an Asteroids one in a similar style Iβll post at some point.
Humans are limited when compared to gods.
Humans are also infinite, since gods areβfor the most partβbound to their domains. Oromo can no more consume the coffee they stop to smell than Polly Chrome can shave her head and embrace her natural hair color, whatever that might be.

Game Dad Thread:
Highlighting an itch.io gem called Yurivania: Uhaul of the Night, by MxAshlynn
https://mxashlynn.itch.io/yurivania-1
I said to my mate "Yurivania" and they gave me this Face, the Face you're probably making right now at that name, but I followed up with the subtitle which clarified that this game is made by an actual lesbian and not a horny cis guy; anyway, there is no lewdity in this game and it is not a dating simulator. The dating happened before the game started, now you're doing Cosy Relationship Maintenance in the ComfortCore Platformer genre.
You play a Medusa who's asking her plant-based girlfriend to move in with her, so you'll need to gather a bunch of stuff to outfit your place with plant-based life support. You live in a massive lesbian monster castle and the game is largely about navigating this under-constant-construction space while chatting with its inhabitants, all of whom are well-written fleshed-out skeletons/demons/mythical creatures. The game didn't fall into the trap of writing in a total jerk for extra challenge or conflict or whatever; there's presumably a jerk somewhere in the castle but the jerkery happens offscreen, the conflict is player vs environment and all the people you talk to are delightful wholesome respectful nurturing... human-eating monsters.
You can play it on a #gameDad, a Game Boy Colour with a flash cart, a GBC emulator on your computer or phone, and if you don't have any of those things then you can straight-up just click a button and play it right in your browser. Free or pay what you want.
There's a sequel and a prequel too but I haven't played them yet but plan to soon.
Looking forward to playing Viewfinder, out today on PlayStation and Steam. βA mind-bending first person adventure game in which you can bring pictures to life by placing them into the world.β
one nice thing that id Software's been doing with its official doom and quake remasters: they re-publish classic community mods as semi-official "add-ons" and interview the original designers https://slayersclub.bethesda.net/en/article/7hE8TVhxv582NcRLcJiDr8/nods-to-mods-interview-contract-revoked-for-quake
The failure of the Internet to deliver its promise is particularly noticeable when you hunt for repair manuals for a product from the 90s. Used to be, the information would either be there or not there, finable or unfindable.
Now, there are hundreds of algorithmically generated sites claiming to have it just because it appeared in their search logs, generating potemkin village content traps with endless paging, broken-thumbnail named-like-the-file-you-want but actually-just-ebay-photos bullshit
TIL that in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, as you level up the Skeleton Waiter soul, it throws out a progressively more sumptuous curry feast. Interestingly, the first level curry is clearly a Japanese style curry with a couple pixels of bright red pickled veg on the side, the second is a bit ambiguous, and the third is a south Indian style platter of different curries, chutneys, and some sort of bread (poori or naan, perhaps).
Sorry if reading this made you hungry!
So, I don't use this place as much as I probably should, my attention is split, but let me just give a mention to the game Chained Echoes, it's quickly become one of the best RPGs I've played lately, it's awesome.
But, the moment I knew this game was gonna be special? The song for the turtle race minigame.
Good morning, folks. Have a sysadmin tip:
When you ssh to a remote system, make it a habit to run either `screen` or `tmux` first. Always. Even for just a quick little command.
That way, when your crap ISP monopoly drops your connection for no reason whatsoever, your remote command won't be SIGHUP'd, & you can resume with `screen -r` or `tmux attach` when they decide your connection can be restored.
This is, hands down, one of the worst ways to run Photoshop: in a Mac emulator on an old Sun machine.
