in case I've ever given anybody a false impression of Unflapping Confidence, I assure you that I am, in fact, a social coward.
like, oh fuck, what did I miss, how badly am I gonna need to tiptoe for the next several hours before my internal Alert Phase calms down, possibly several *more* hours before I stop reflexively flinching at any noise louder than a keystroke
For some reason, I feel a need to Be Aware of everything happening in the house. I cannot make myself drown out conversations and noises. If people are talking and I cannot hear them, I *must* quiet myself down to know what they're saying. This is either a superpower or some Pavlovian behavior.
Which is why The Dread sets in, heavily, when the only thing I can hear from 3 rooms over is the sound of packing tape, occasional banging, and Mom yelling "Fine, be that way!"
Today's oddware: The HP Infrared Access Point: NetBeamIR. With this monolith-looking box with a HAL 9000 aperture on the front, you can bridge IrDA devices with Ethernet! Who needs WiFi?! π
The pen-pressure handling is a little weird (pushing harder thickens the *entire line*) but, y'know, if i ever have the urge to draw a quick and dirty doodle, maybe this is the thing.

Jon the Programmer's Squinky Tennis! An Easter egg game found hidden in several different Game Gear games published in the 90s by CodeMasters. I've been curious about this game since I was about 13 as you can't play it unless you have two GGs and a link cable. And there were no videos online anywhere of it. I finally gave up waiting and made my own video
I really liked the SNES game series Top Gear (aka Top Racer in places where TG might mean something else). It's a solid arcade racer with excellent music.
But the artwork has always stood out to me, and over the years I realized it's not unique to these game. But I'm not 100% sure what it is though. I've been trying to collect other example of its use and recently got this SB Live X-Gamer.
Based on the Top Gear II box I think the original is a painting. And it's of a real car, a 1984 Corvette GTP.
But I can't find any information about the artwork. I'm wondering if it was something that was common to license or really anything about it.
