@njion me, chronically ill, taking 40% of my daily energy to make aeropress coffee every morning rather than bother with pods
theres a really fun bug in tusky where i can't actually open the filters menu at all so every time a hashtag that annoys me takes over the federated timeline i just block everyone posting it. mercifully i no longer see 'monsterdon' spam and soon whatever this 'notgpn' thing is will be silent as well
i am looking for a database of video games, or a way to scrape to build one
initially, i need:
i have looked at: gametdb, thegamesdb, launchbox, rawg. for different reasons (the biggest one being erroneous data) they don't work for me. the most accurate data come from sources i can't easily scrape (like mobygames)
suggestions and boosts welcome

The UK government's online safety consultation closes TODAY.
We must push back against more and more online ID checks. Making every adult hand over sensitive data to unregulated providers is itself UNSAFE.
Let's take on Big Tech business models instead!

my wife's windowsill garden is pretty and she posts about it on a forum not controlled by big corporations or reliant on cloudflare infrastructure and you should look at it https://forums.transbian.love/?page=post&id=2668

bad advice reaffirms the parent/child power dynamic.
if your child has a problem, and you give them GOOD advice, they might get better at solving their own problems. then, they'd have fewer problems for you to cluck over and be disappointed by.
if you give them BAD advice, they have more problems and less idea what to do about any of them, so they 'need advice' again (whether they ask for it or not), and you have more opportunities to be superior.
of course you can only get away with telling your child to do exactly the wrong thing so often. the best bad advice is merely useless, impossible to follow, or causes your child to doubt themself.
and always remember: if your advice doesn't work, it's because your child applied it incorrectly. that's the whole point of giving bad advice!
@lion i would order that in a heartbeat, it sounds great
my favorite kind of AI/LLM criticism media is when the person begins with a huge hedge like "I'm not an AI hater. *of course* AI is a useful technology and it will doubtlessly have transformative effects on the way we work" and then they spend the next 8k words/45 minutes showing how AI isn't actually useful and won't actually transform the way we work. it's like... it's okay to just say that AI sucks
@YKantRachelRead unfortunately i live in a house with like 10 people, and my dad stopped masking within 3 months of covid 19 hitting the uk, and he just started a new job in a school. if he brings something home it will mean isolating in my wife and i's bedroom and hoping it doesn't kill any of my family.
@YKantRachelRead god this is just activating that same anxiety I had when COVID was first being reported on, already looking at stocking up on more ffp3 masks just in case
