lonely
While meeting very interesting, very relatable people only to have them quickly disappear has unfortunately become a frequent thing for me, I think the most recent time is really hitting me hard because there were extra implications they intended on being gone forever and that just makes me sad. I usually have a vague hope that if I wait enough months all my friends that are too busy or antisocial will be around again.
@XerTheSquirrel I feel obligated to keep staying in my channel from 10 or 11 years ago as long as other people do, though it's pretty quiet and I'm just waiting out a natural, peaceful death for it at this point. Other peoples' dying channels on the other hand...
I mostly use HexChat for non-IRC purposes at this point actually but it's worth having up for those so I feel like it's not bothering me too much to be in a few channels too.
I like how certbot (plus a cron job) automates renewing SSL/TLS certificates to the point where I didn't have to touch again it for over a year before they finally phased out something, and all that meant was I had to update certbot.
Ended up using the opportunity to go and add some of my other subdomains to the certificate too.
@maple I've been using a 1024x768 monitor sometimes as a stand-in for my broken laptop screen and the main issue I run into is just UIs often being designed for widescreen, but otherwise it's fine for me too.
@Chel https://novasquirrel.itch.io/nova-the-squirrel I made this and I'm pretty proud of it
@Chel When they're used as intended I don't mind them very much since the term is actually short enough that things that were important in your life are very likely to be free to use later in your life.
MP3s are a pretty good example, very important, widely used technology that's now usable by everyone for free.
Looks like the patent for Dance Dance Revolution expires this year:

There are a lot of creative mediums I wish I were good at but each thing probably calls for years of practice on their own. I guess this is why collaborations and commissions exist.
That said, being able to create fun video games is a pretty great skill to have, and even if I'm not great at pixel art or music they're still fun to play with, which is the important part.
re: gender, sex, second life, irritating, bad
@maple I've been making a point of just describing my own character as simply female nearly everywhere. I feel like 99% of the time it's completely sufficient.
There's also been a hint this entire time that there might eventually be one, because the level select graphics has a colon in the same style as the numbers, and now it has its intended use as a minutes:seconds separator in showing the best time for the level.
re: Food
@Rosemary reading the list of ingredients in that, those all sound potentially really good in pizza
Food
I'm actually unsure there's much of a flavor difference from normal but it sure didn't hurt it! It really shines when I make tortilla pizzas or pizza bagels so I was curious about it in a real pizza.
Transformation kink
I often fantasize about being transformed but it usually doesn't really hold up to my expectations in a roleplay. Transforming other people, on the other hand, is consistently a lot more enjoyable in practice.
I wonder if this comes from my preferences being a bit nonstandard and being able to have exactly what I want if I'm in charge, or if it just says something about me and what I actually enjoy. I like playing out a fantasy where I help other people in a meaningful way.
I'm a pretty squirrel princess who dabbles in roleplay, game development, retro game consoles, pixel art, and a variety of computery things.
