re: Autistic Parenting While Autistic
"imagine if corps ran this way"
A lot of them do, and not just for jobs that ask "Do you want fries with that?"
Hubs is an RN, and his schedule was all over the place, until they went to established shifts. His working hours and days off used to jump, every week. I couldn't have handled it.
Hey people of Mastodon. I slept very little last night and my ADHD is making it very hard to focus on this super important day so, I know I probably could've sounded punchier and not ask for help but one thing this queer learned in a lifetime of abuse is that sometimes it's okay to ask for help. Today the 'Redundant' project was released, my baby independent project about violence against the transgender and non-binary community. Would you watch/listen? Would you reblog?
OUT NOW!
We need your help in getting it to as many peopleβs awareness as possible. 'Redundant' is a 2 part music and film project made by 5 #nonbinary and #transgender #artists raising awareness to violence against gender diverse people in the #UK. We respond to the UK gov's blocking of Scotland's gender recognition reform bill and their avoidance of legislating a ban on conversion therapy. Supporters on Mastodon made this possible - Thank you!

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I wish my autistic teenager would heed this advice! Theyβre incredibly depressed & keep the curtains drawn. I have to go in & open the curtains & take care of them like a plant.
OK, from now on I boost here the same way I do out in the big, wild, wooly world of Mastodon.
@ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic that lil circular arrow icon is the core of mastodon as thereβs no backend automated dopamine dispensing code here. I donβt use it on every post I interact with, but most. Once this platform hits a critical mass, I will likely dial down how often I use it.
I feel flattered and happy when I'm boosted. I take it as a sign that I've written something others find interesting and want to share with their community.
@ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic
My simple go to is, if I feel it would benifit or be of interest to anyone else I boost. If it's a question I don't know the answer to, I boost. If I just think someone may enjoy it, I boost. Whilst for me being boosted feels like someone's valuing me.
@StillIRise1963
Absolutely!
Comey deliberately put his thumb on the scale to help a Russian agent get elected.
The fact that he later criticized said Russian agent doesn't make up for what he did. Comey should be considered an accessory to any crime Trump committed while in office.
Believe they care about child welfare and safety when they pass a law making it a crime of negligence to leave your child alone with a priest.
When the Government want to undermine private communications in the name of child protection, recall that they really don't care about child abuse. #onlinesafety #encryption

An etiquette question:
How do people feel about posts in here being boosted? If I understand the whole Mastodon thing, boosting it puts it in front of anyone who follows my (as an example) posts and boosts. Many of them aren't associated with this #ActuallyAutistic mob. Is that OK? Is that a faux pas? I don't know what to think.
I spontaneously went outside to take photos to announce the matte covers have been discontinued then saw my overgrown roses, started deadheading blooms, picking petals for jam, got a sunburned because I hadn't intended to go outside in my jammies, and then began using my workbook as a flower organizing board. By the way, a flower board and a photo prop are not the intended use of this non-diagnostic tool. @actuallyautistic #adhd #audhd #autism #autistic

My bedroom is fitted with color-change LED bulbs, and they simulate a sunrise, from very dim amber to bright white, over a period of 30 minutes.
For night sleeping, I have blackout drapes and the sequence plays in reverse, from bright white to very dim red, with a touch of amber. That way I have sunrise and sunset on my schedule, not whatever random thing the planet decides to do. Stupid planet, with changing daylight hours.
I deliberately have a lot of voices, from very deep and growly bass to second soprano. I also have a wide repertoire of what was always called "weird sounds" that I make. I stopped for years, growing up, then decided it doesn't hurt anyone, I enjoy it, and anyone who doesn't like it can get the hell out of my house.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
