With procedural generation you can save a lot of space for content but did you know that Pitfall! on the Atari 2600 uses one byte (!) to describe a room? Here's the link to an article describing how that works:

i cannot stress enough how much I admire @mavica_again for its technical capabilities (not to mention its creative output, aesthetic choices, and ability to seed my brain with words that I can't stop saying aloud). You should follow it imo

Years ago I bought a collection of IBM Selectric Typewriter ‘golf balls’ (including some rarer ones) from a typewriter repair shop. Once upon a time this was how fonts were stored for the machine. The owner literally used his arm to shovel them into a cardboard box like he couldn’t get rid of them fast enough, in a shop full of hundreds of them. A good memory. #design #typography #typewriter #fonts

All jokes aside, remember what Christmas is really about, people.

Rich people being terrorized by spectres until they agree to pay their employees a living wage.

So @.joinmastodon got unbanned from Twitter.

This is the first tweet that they sent after the unbanning:

"As a company from eastern Germany, we know that building a wall to try and keep people from leaving isn't a good idea."

What a response!

Today is Yule, and wow did it sneak up on me and catch me unprepared. May you all have a merry holiday, however close or far from the solstice it may be.

and hey, if you wanna help make next year better, or just make the end of the year more bearable, ko-fi.com/squirrel

Periodic reminder that if you're looking for a good alternative to Google Chrome, Brave is not it. The web search terms "brave browser criticism" and "brendan eich" (Brave's CEO) will yield far more reasons to give it a hard pass than I can.
