Politics

You know what? I'm using the power vested in me by *those who'd wish to give these words any authority* to declare the US government a terrorist organisation. This includes not only federal government officials, but anyone in the military or any police department in the US.

FreeBSD

Okay, add to the cons list "Electrical interference is now a thing with my speakers. OSS picks up shit like my AC or oven switching on and off now and there's a constant static playing from my speakers."

FreeBSD

Pros:
- Such UNIX, much wow
- Reasonably straightforward ways of doing stuff
- Doesn't rely on the GNU userland

Cons:
- I don't know how to do anything
- My 360 controller doesn't work
- WHY IS SOUND SUDDENLY WORKING?! WHAT CHANGED?!
- Pretty much every bit of software written for a UNIX-like is written for Linux with the GNU userland, so even here I can't fucking escape it. IT'S EVERYWHERE!
- Why does moused even exist? I can't seem to use it in anything

UNIX, screaming

Current impressions of FreeBSD:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAudio problems

And they're not even really going all in on it! They're just sitting where we are now! (Not that there's much left in that part of the tree)

VG metaphors

Thankfully, some organisations and countries have realised the fossil fuels path is shit and have started on the other trees. Unfortunately, the government of my country (the US) has decided to go all in on the fossil fuels path. Ugh.

VG metaphors

If humanity had a tech tree, we'd be doing *shit* on the electricity generation part of it. Like, we unlocked some basic upgrades to nuclear reactors and some almost decent renewable generators, but we've pretty much decided "Fuck it" and put most of our points into completing the fossil fuels path, despite the fact they have rapidly become the *worst* part of the tree. Sure, they don't require many upgrade points and are decent early on. BUT THE OTHER PATHS GET SO MUCH BETTER!

Gender, advanced mathematics

I supposed technically, it should be a spectrum in E², as technically both H² and E² are diffeomorphic onto R²

Show thread

Gender, advanced mathematics

Gender is actually a spectrum in H⁴, but we, being humans used to E³ and being completely unable to imagine 4D hyperbolic space, have simplified it down to, at worst, a binary and, at best, a spectrum in R² with some options off the plane. Not even all of R² either. Just the positives.

Nonprofits encouraging people to scab for Amazon, so they can get that sweet, sweet 1% or whatever of every Prime Day purchase donated to their dusty coffers.

I'm not like other girls

Other girls: Eat reasonable, if unhealthy food.

Me: Drives up to a chicken place and asks for "two dozen rolls and nothing else" with the intent to consume all of them by myself.
