hey, wanna hear why some game audio was just never meant to play on anything other than a real AdLib card?

This is why. (Ultima 6's startup intro as played on the OPL3 of an AWE32. Very loud and noisy.)

Same song, same sound card, but playing through AdPlay rather than the game.

Sounds *perfect*

@BatElite strangely enough it's actually a problem with what the game sends to the card and not the music file itself (which can be played through adplay on the same sound card without an issue)

@azushark "Recommended specs: what our testing machine has. We have no idea why it doesn't work on other computers but please buy out stuff anyway."

engine bugs yay~

@BatElite i mean, the game was released shortly after the first version of the Sound Blaster was released, so it may have been somewhat compatible with those!

AWE32 is too new for it

@azushark "Oh this isn't that bad, it's just kinda- OH GOD"

@Vixlia yeah it's awful isn't it

it just happens to be more of an issue with the game rather than the music file tho!
