The Q word
@a_breakin_glass
@garfiald
People feel the acronym is a little too long, so they replace it with mogai, "Marginalized Orientations, Gender identities, And Intersex". This of course get a backlash from exclusionists, who think aspec peeps and intersex people don't belong in the community, and anyone who specify their non-binary gender identity (stargender for example) as "cringy" and disposable.
The Q word
@garfiald And also the anti-MOGAI, who thinks microlabeling is a "toxic practice". They hate diversifying identities because it "dilute the struggles". To them, when they say they "support non-binary people", that's literally all you're allowed to identify as. They merely replace a gender binary with a gender trinary.
The Q word
@garfiald One thing: "queer" never implies anything monochrome, the word literally implies anything outside the norm of the cisheteropatriarchy perisex oppressors. It is exactly because it implies such a large range of diversity that TERFs and truscums/transmeds hate it.

@garfiald
This honestly makes me doubt that whoever came up with the "queer is slur" is often in good faith. 9/10 times they're some sort of gatekeeper.

@garfiald
My problem against this argument is that the word "gay" is even more widely used as a slur, and even more often used as an insult than "queer". Why is it that only "queer" has to be warned as a slur, but not "gay". This is especially the case where I come from. Not to mention queer was reclaimed just as much, if not more than gay.

Do tell the difference between legitimate concerns and silencing tactics.
America is just the country that shows how all the written guarantees in the world for freedom are no protection against tyranny and oppression of the worst kind.

The Q word (yes, I know, I'm sorry)
@garfiald
This is a slippery slope as the all of TERFs/truscums/transmeds are also against it and fuel this rhetoric. Not to mention the majority of ace exclusionists and anti-MOGAI.

oops sorry I thought this was a new reply

Letting those who police others of how they describe their identities, especially with a reclaimed word and possess strong TERF/truscum undertones into queer spaces actually make it less safe for people.

If you use it for yourself and someone else take a problem with it that's THEIR issue and it's a good chance that was a gatekeeper.

I’ve heard that a lot of astronauts say it can really change your outlook, going into orbit and seeing how the world looks from the outside. It puts things into perspective and makes you realise what’s really important.
So I fully support space strikes!
