anticapitalism, awkward

PROFESSOR: so tell me why are you all are taking this class on social media?
EVERYONE: *some variation on “I like instagram and want a job”*
ME: I’m interested in the ways social media allow companies to assert ownership over organically formed communities… *tents fingers* and how to put a stop to that
PROFESSOR (nervous): …ok

I saw a new gender-word today that I'm already kind of in love with:

Femby!! :heart_nb:

Welp. I have been hit with one too many unexpected expenses and I'm officially Broke for the rest of the month. If you've got a couple bucks you can toss toward groceries, I'd really appreciate it.

meta; lesbian instance not accepting he/him lesbians

@jackofallEves

I actually had to leave that instance because the admin agreed with the politics of the instance "honey.church." She added the ban on he/him lesbians after I confronted her about said instance.

meta; lesbian instance not accepting he/him lesbians

so, in case anyone didnt hear, apparently lesbiab.space is not allowing he/him lesbians now. This fact is codified in their rules page, the admin has declined to comment on the issue at this time.

@BDA the music industry doesnt understand that black sabbath albums sounding like they were recorded in a cave was the whole fucking point

electricity was invented in 1776 by thomas edison because he needed a way to murder an elephant

Capitalism, politics, hierarchy

@packbat @scarly
Capitalism, especially as it exists today, reinforces existing hierarchy. I think that is what confused people. They confuse this as being the “source” but that’s simply not the case. Hierarchical systems can persist under many forms of economic organization, and thus have to be brought down in a simultaneous, but separate, action.

your daily reminder that the sudden elimination of a capitalist state will not address homophobia, racism, ableism, and other implicit biases

even if the revolution was tomorrow, we would still have work to do to get to an actually equitable world

one of the reasons that white anarchists frustrate me is this belief that if you topple the state, the goodness of people will float up and all that pesky racism stuff will melt away.

this is a dangerous belief. the revolution doesn't end at revolt.
