Heads up new Mastodonners. The "official" Mastodon app isn't very good, which is a shame, because now is a critical time to make the experience as good as possible for newcomers.
I recommend Tusky on Android.
@jollysea nah, this was their excuse to use *any* social media that isn't masto, which is why I felt a bit insulted by it 😕

Here's one people miss a lot:
If you go to your Settings, under Preferences => Appearance, you'll find a "Confirmation Dialogs" subheading. If you turn on "Show confirmation dialog before boosting" you'll get a popup that includes the option to change the boost's privacy!
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle 
my local library finally got physical copies of Kate Beaton's newest book Ducks, finally can put a hold on it
thanks to whomever went through the effort of requesting it
idk who needs to hear this, but you don't need an app or a bot to tell you if people unfollowed you and/or blocked you
you're better off not knowing and not caring

Sometimes I see posts on here like “mastodon is too serious and businesslike, it needs more selfies and shitposts” and I’m like are we even using the same website but then I remember we very literally are not
wow that toot I made yesterday is officially the most attention I've gotten on any post! :O
I'm officially gonna try and wait at least 3 months after finding a new streamer before adding them on social media sites and/or joining their discord
