@chuxen@queer.party i love so many styles of glasses, i can't decide at all what i should get (since i'm up for a new pair!)

like, i got some cool cat-eye ones recently but i posted a very good selfie at one point with my older, chunkier glasses. and someone complimented them and decided i was going to return the cat-eyes. but i can't decide. i want all the glasses x3

@chuxen@queer.party Cee is a great name, and i'm loving seeing her wiggly ears on my timeline!

also! squarish glasses are great and totally contrast with the round ones from the chinchilla, such a nice little touch <3

@plaguedaemon@snouts.online aw heck, i know anxiety like that! i thought it was a good question and seemed honest, not a "ugh do i have to have a silly animal person to get any respect around here" while simultaneously acknowledging the ridiculousness of that situation (which has arisen organically, somehow?!)

like, there's nothing not-ridiculous about furries, but i think it's awesome.

@plaguedaemon@snouts.online like to honestly answer the question, whether one was needed or not (pretty and beautifully rendered birds tho!!)

yeah? one thing is that furries really do tend to (a tendency, not a rule) use fursonas/personal characters as a form of signaling and it might be conscious or not. knowing someone's fursona on sight increases fondness, or gives a feeling of personableness. it's almost like a logo, but more complex and personal.

anyway that Revali is hecka good, +'ing you

@chuxen@queer.party AAAAAAAAAAAaAaAaAaaAa!

she's very pretty <333

Pokémon, death mention, early queerfeels

@poss_bot trying to go a bunch of toots without gendering James: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :yell:

Pokémon, death mention, early queerfeels

@poss_bot and like, that kind of confusion of sexuality and gender feels always made me feel super alone. I couldn't reconcile the feelings, even when I knew I was bi. when I was a kid, all "effiminate men" were just gay. that's literally how it was explained to me by well-meaning cishet adults. but James was representation with *nuance*

heck

Pokémon, death mention, early queerfeels

@poss_bot it was a little fun thing that suddenly got a lot more significant later. my fren passed away a couple years after high school and, knowing what I do now, it stings. I definitely can't just leave it at "James is gay" (tho in the fun, broad, shitposty sense, YES JAMES IS HECKA GAY)

the fact that it was a "kids' show" sidestepped lots of sexuality talk but like, if it were shown, James could clearly relate to women slightly more, like me =3

@chuxen@queer.party omgomg i love the animation, the lashes flop is so good! the glasses and colors are amazing. i imagine all her lil tufty bits would bobble around like that when she moves too 💖🌟

i see what you mean with the ruff, i think it’s lovely though, like a cozy scarf. i think some more tufty fluff at the bottom would have made it flow better?

wolf sounds really great too! good luck!

Pokémon

@poss_bot like i’m p sure 99% took James as a gay joke, the fey villain. and then there’s the One Where James Is A Girl. the forbidden episode. which naturally we obtained a copy of.

and it was... like memories are hazy but seeing James present femininely, without it being forced, embarrassing, or a gay joke? i think my fren might have said to me quietly, “i want to be able to do that with that confidence”

aaaaaaaaaaa ;~; my fragile teenage heart

Pokémon

@poss_bot @daylight aaa James is a real talk important character. i was 16 and it was the 90s and homomisia was rampant, it was bad high school times. James was a villain, sure, but also represented what i saw at the time as Good Masculinity.

i had like two friends total, one AMAB fren was tbh Proto-Queer As Heck, and we were both deeply afraid of exposing that, but there’s James. being amazing.

gender, clothes, inquiry

@TonicBH like above all, it takes time and practice. 90% of the people out there Do Not Care, but try telling that to my anxiety-fueled brain, in Texas, in a crowded store, aaaaa

oh yeah, going early or late, when there’s less people, might help.

i found the queer person at my local thrift store because they were wearing a trans flag pin and i just said “i like your pin” and it took off from there <3

having the social energy for that was HRRRRNG.

i still get nervous

gender, clothes, inquiry

@TonicBH a couple things
- supportive friend that is excited with you, and also shopping for themself, so that you can mentally go “oh it just looks like i’m shopping with them” which checking out sweet clothes, and try to forget everyone else in the store (this takes time)

- depending on your area, thrift stores may be more friendly. avoid churchy ones. my favorite is Savers/Value Village, because almost every one i’ve been to has a queer person on staff who’s awesome

@chuxen@queer.party definitely okay to have doubts! I think my best has had two different post-realization species.

I'm fairly privileged with my built-in fursona, but gosh.

oh another thing! see if you can find examples of other artists drawing fluffy ruffs and it might nudge you into a better way to draw it.

or just give it some time on the back burner, and try out other things? it definitely can take some time =3

@chuxen@queer.party does she have a lighter ruff/slightly darker face? that can help contrast, and you can always push the colors around to accent

keep mussing around with the design til you feel it! no pressure to even stick with one thing.... I went with a boatload of slightly different hairstyles before one just came to me. also I decided different colored hair every time was gonna be a thing. wahaha. =3

and of course, nothing is set in stone, a personal character can always evolve with you 💜

i made a single-user twitter thread reader a while back, just to have a no-distraction way to view a stream of thoughts (no one else’s comments, nothing else)

i’m happy to say that thanks to people being awesome, gonna need to do the same for masto =9

@Saxxon thank you also!! you’re good and valid as heck

SFW Furry Art

@jankar80 oh my gosh, they're wonderful! such and good and powerful fursona design 💖
