They also weren't too discerning about what they put on the SD card

I have several of these SD card accepting VT-chip-based famiclones already, I've been trying to document the ones on the market museum.12bit.club/SD_card_VT_c
This is in line with the others in terms of capability, it can run mapper 0 and 3 and a small number of VTxx .bin files

but there was this fucking metal weight loose inside which was rattling around in shipment and broke the ribbon cable off one of the 2 PCBs. even if I bridge the pins connected to the power switch on the main PCB it doesn't seem to work. someone spotted that C37 seems to have been broken off as well

I got this today. a famiclone with an SD card slot from Renshun, the former Coolbaby company who disppeared for a while but have resurfaced recently

There are 2 launchers preinstalled, IUX and Pegasus, IUX is the custom one for this device & I like it in some ways it but does have issues. Honestly if I was doing this from scratch I wouldn't bother with a launcher & just use emu apps standalone but might as well tinker with what's here

I bought this a full year ago and have only just got around to setting it up

it's quite funny how when it comes to 2D games people are so purist about recreating them perfectly as-was to the point of arguing over CRT and composite artifacts but with N64 even the official emulators are like nah kill the blur crank up the resolution I want those elf ears sharp enough to cut me

Show thread

I am concluding I would probably rather play this on an emulator tbh.. the blurriness and low res of the N64 is Very apparent when played on a large TV

thinking I wanted to play majora's mask & wondering what I should play it on & then I remembered I still have this

bit of now-redundant JS that i'm slightly sad to get rid of because of the comment

one thing i've noticed reading the hansard transcripts of the debates over online restrictions for under 16s is this great emphasis and panic over "stranger pairing" which i believe is what we used to call "making friends"
hansard.parliament.uk/lords/20

i've now made it display thumbnails & it shows the filenames & markup for the image when you click on it. made it like 100x more useful. progress is being made
