got a new midi controller so of course the first thing i do isn't use it for any musical reason but rather write a python script to control the rgb lights in it
finding that if you want to know the real shit about a toaster you should check the French reviews
shopping for a new toaster & why do none of them give the only information that matters ie the interior dimensions of the bread slot. genuinely don't give a fuck about anything else

Because I want there to be Patreon competitors, I will explain what Patreon actually does, so if somebody would like to actually compete with Patreon they will know what they have to actually accomplish.
Brace yourself. Some of this is a little complicated to explain.
And before explaining it, allow me to observe: these are the sorts of features you get when somebody who actually really understands the usage case designs the platform. Patreon was founded by and designed by an actual goddamn artist, a musician and music video maker, who understood what artists and other creators actually need out of a platform.

@NekoEd actually I realised the images in question were webp too so it wasn't an inter instance policy thing after all, it does just seem to be down to how formats not directly supported by the instance are handled
@NekoEd if I view a post like that from the web there's a (working) link directly to the file on the remote instance though. in tusky there's a link there but it points to some media proxy on this instance which returns a 404. i have no idea if it's down to the instance not providing the correct link or the app not using the correct link 🤷
Seems to be broken as well for media from an instance that your instance doesn't embed media from
