@Fenreliania yeah, I get this a little bit - sometimes I click on an account and am surprised that I'm not following them already!
@mawr On top of being a difficult-to-escape huge timesink with no value, I have found that after a watching for a while it starts showing extremist right wing propaganda to me ::/

re: TTRPG opinions
@coriander one of my friends said recently that they're looking forward to the next wave of (indie) RPGs, with the hope that they'll pull inspiration from what PbtA did but actually be something fresh and different.
TTRPG opinions
@coriander I loved the original Apocalypse World, but I think a lot of PbtA games don't really understand what makes it special, and just take whole parts of AW without fully considering them.
(What's special is the concept of moves, the asymmetry between MC and players, and the existence of partial successes. Everything else is part of the content of AW specifically - the text of the moves, the playbooks, the way you roll dice, etc)
@coriander omg this sounds like exactly the thing I need rn
@monorail good morning!
videogames (~)
Gloomwood is in early access, and it looks fantastic...
But, it also looks like it is too incomplete to be worth buying. They've got a lot of the art and systems in place, but they've only got a handful of levels.
I was really hoping there would be enough to it that I could get into it in early access (like with Ultrakill), but I guess I will just have to wait a few years until it's finished!
re: ADHD and workplace/remote work poll
@ljwrites@rage.love the real answer for me is "it's complicated" - I don't like commuting because it's hard for me to get ready in the right order and in time to catch the bus...
...but once the workday actually starts I find it easier to focus if I'm in a space that is only ever used for work (i.e. the office).

worldbuilding, religion [2]
unlike European (Christian) understanding of religion however, these religions are not actually exclusive - there are many members of society who practice both.
In addition, I'm trying to make it so that both religions prioritise ritual actions over belief - it doesn't matter so much if you believe in something, just that you do the things you are supposed to do.
And this is all interesting and fun! But way more time consuming than my previous worldbuilding projects.
worldbuilding, religion [1]
I feel like I'm becoming more nuanced with my worldbuilding, but it's also becoming harder and harder to make decisions.
One of the things I'm working on is the religious practices of the culture, and in trying to make it more interesting I decided that the Yóoŋwẹ people would actually have 2 primary religions.
One is endemic, and based on sacred places.
The second is from a historical diaspora from a different culture, and is based on ancestor* veneration.
