@nightpool@cybre.space I follow too many people to do that! and often the amount of time I spend away from mastodon is upwards of 12 hours

@nightpool@cybre.space oh, I don't scroll down after I've slept, I just ignore everything that happened before I got online because otherwise I get too stressed and waste too much time

but

on twitter I try to check the account of one of my partners
on masto I try to check the local timeline

@nightpool@cybre.space I keep mastodon slightly scrolled down from the top so that new toots don't move the home timeline, and on twitter I

look at the "see n new tweets"
find x = n / 5
type x C-f (which in vimperator means "press pagedown x times")

@nightpool@cybre.space I only scroll up! that's part of why twitter's way of doing it is confusing to me

I actually find mastodon's lack of threading to be easier to follow than twitter's "let's re-arrange and hide bits of this conversation as it happens"

is this an actual toot on the real website cybre dot space?

Your hobby is cartography: collecting all sorts of maps and hunting down trap streets in person. During one of your expeditions you find yourself in front of a street that you previously confirmed as a trap street of one particular map in your collection, created by your favorite cartographer.

Researchers found a frilled shark - normally found 100-1500m deep - swimming in shallow water of the coast of Portugal. Frilled sharks are cool because they've remained essentially identical for about 80 million years. They're so perfectly adapted to their environment that they haven't needed to change. :weirdfish:

@squirrel don't blame yourself, it was a bad joke that I shouldn't have made
