Because when you're REALLY kind to other people, that's a sort of vulnerability. And vulnerability is so important to *really* connecting with and knowing other people; of having them be a part of your life.

And being kind just...*feels* good in a way that lasts the way meanness and cruelty don't.

Natalie

Natalie Nguyen was one of the most genuinely and deeply kind people I have ever met. Its something I've been thinking about a lot - about kindness. We live in a world and a time where being both casually and seriously mean to people, even people we *know* and supposedly care about, is too easy. Too normal. But the good thing is, Natalie and people like her remind us that real kindness is not only worth what effort it might take, its actually infectious, and inspiring.

@claire you're 100% correct, that's a way better idea - types are great and treating them like they're scary will just make things harder!

but I meant more like... don't introduce types until later in the first lesson

@claire same - I was thinking of doing it like this:

* explain how = works
* introduce a few simple functions
* don't mention types until a bunch later

@ktsukik@cybre.space I'm so happy you tried it! I need to try gentoo soon...

implying I'm going to do something evil (I'm not)

@claire oh of course....

unless... I write all 7777 characters in the cw :blobowoevil:

I'm kinda really tempted to make a post on my dragon style account, that goes to the full limit of 7777 characters
