@puppy@chitter.xyz it does, I think some are beginning to be added

@puppy@chitter.xyz well it's just followers only + whoever you're mentioning

@puppy@chitter.xyz follower only toots also notify anyone who's atted

so if you at anyone ever, they can always see the toot they were atted in (but not anything else)

@catoutofbed@octodon.social ah right, I'd have to like... have a fake account logged in somewhere, grabbing all the data from the end and sending it unsecured over irc, which people might not be ok with

I wonder if I can link an IRC thing to an XMPP thing to a telegram thing?

🤔

@caseyweederman@gamemaking.social well sorry I meant more like "I don't trust Slack to have my best interests at heart"

@caseyweederman@gamemaking.social I like arcane blood magic

and I don't really want to have all my data on some big company's server...

If you’re going to start your own instance and open registration, be aware that it’s a responsibility you shouldn’t take lightly. People trust you to hold memories, connections to other human beings. We’re social creatures: There’s nothing we cherish more than relationships. Don’t treat that brittle gem with contempt

@catoutofbed@octodon.social too late, I'm already trusting you with my secret minecraft journal

@hal@slime.global @chr@cybre.space I love telegram as an IM too!

I just don't want to exclude people...

@troubleMoney eh, my problem with discord is that I think a lot of it would work better as a forum

... :thinkhappy:

.... maybe I should run a forum instead

@hal@slime.global I love it, but!

you have to tie your phone number to it, which gives me privacy squirms

plus if you ever add someone to your phone contacts, you never see their display name ever again

just... overall I wish it was linked to an email address instead of phone number

Maybe I'm just an old, but witches.town ceasing to be reminds me of millennium internet girl culture: Someone would host your pages as a directory (or if you were lucky, a subdomain!) on their site and then they'd get tired of hosting, or bored of their domain name, or shut down in a fit of ✨drama✨ and you'd lose your archive if you were forgetful but you'd find yourself another benevolent host who seemed so much cooler because her design was on point and she'd help you with JavaScript and CSS.

I want to make a group chat, but I don't like discord and other people don't like telegram

so maybe IRC?

I don't know how to run an IRC thing
