Doctor Who • Audio Dramas

it's better to not have a 6th doctor story in the favourites list for now, than to have a list full of lies

Doctor Who • Audio Dramas

I think part of my problem is that (in my mind at least) "favourite" is a different category to "definitely recommended"

So even though I definitely recommend The Marian Conspiracy and The Holy Terror (6th Doctor stories), I don't consider either to be my favourite. And even if I did, The Holy Terror isn't neccessarily the best introduction point for someone new to big finish, and The Marian Conspiracy is purely historical, which makes it sound less appealing.

Currently, my favourites list at the top of the page includes:

2 seventh doctor stories
1 sixth doctor story that I've not even actually listened to and keep intending on replacing
1 eighth doctor story

Maybe I should try to have one favourite for each doctor?

I'm not sure...

I've now listened to all of Segment 8!

Currently I'm debating whether my reviews should be visible right away, or if they should be hidden by default. Let me know what you think!

Doctor Who • Audio Dramas ░ Wirrn: Race Memory

Every time there's a gap between BBV stories, I forget that they can actually be good.

Race Memory is really good (and is somewhat of a sequel to the TV story "Ark in Space")

Version 6 update log

most importantly: I think it's at a point where you can read through the rules once and understand them.

And I think it's also at a point where you can skip the Core rules and still understand basically everything you need to know.

If I'm wrong, and there's anything you're not sure about, please let me know!

to be clear: the *words* "enact" and "repeal" have been removed, and replaced with more common words, like "add" and "remove"

Version 6 update log

The most notable change is that "enact" and "repeal" have now been removed from the rules entirely.

The second most notable change is that I removed 2 of the rules: one of the rules was redundant, the other one just confused people.

Something else of note is that I removed all references to "amendments of amendments of a rule" — it made sentences long and confusing, and you can easily achieve the same thing without it.

All the other changes are noted in the Errata section.

factorio, negative-ish

ok, for my next game, I'm using the railworld preset (big ore patches far apart, biters don't expand), but modified so that:
• biter evolution is much slower
• each ore patch is richer than normal

"Ahshaha!" The necromancer gestured to his army of skeletons. "Behold! With these, I shall seize power!"
"I don't know," his intern said, "modern weapons are pretty efficient. They have flamethrowers and stuff."
"Fool! You think I'd send these to fight? I will send them to vote!"

I think the distance video games still have to go before they're starting to realise their potential as an art form can be illustrated by the difference between them and board games.

idk, I like having biters because it gives you a consequence for polution.

But when my defenses are dealing with a different biter attack every 10 seconds, and one in 10 biter attacks damage something, that's a lot of time travelling to the other side of the base to see what broke

factorio, negative-ish

hmm.... I'm starting to resent this game of factorio that I've got going - I'm spending more time dealing with biters and power going out and basic ore throughput issues than I am actually building stuff.

I think I'm going to start again, but maybe with a different world preset?
