currently conflicted between playing vanilla 1.14 or modded 1.12

I've been playing vanilla 1.14 - it looks so much better, and has so many additions over 1.12 that I just really like.

But I miss lots of things - I miss:
• having more than a couple of types of ores
• lots of interesting devices to construct
• a minimap.

idk what to do, really.

And I'm not really sure which modpack I should play

games about making levels (Knytt Stories)

I also like that, unlike other games which allow you to make levels, each level is supposed to be a large-ish self-contained story.

Rather than stuff like Mario Maker, where you can only make one small level and you can't really tell much of a story.

The level that's included with the game, "The Machine", took me around 1.5 hours to finish, and that wasn't because it was hard, it was because that's just how long it is.

games about making levels (Knytt Stories)

Something I like about it is that, while it's a platformer, it's a bit more suited to explanation than to precise jumps, which makes it more relaxing to play.

I also really like the powerups that level creators can give to the player – they're an interesting selection of things:

• wall-climbing
• larger jumps
• double jumps
• an umbrella (to slow your fall)
• a third eye (to make invisible things visible)
• an enemy-detector
• a hologram creator

games about making levels (Knytt Stories)

finally got around to playing Knytt Stories again (which wsa suggested by @typhlosion )

it's really really good!

Although, due to it's age, if you want to try it, I'd suggest getting Knytt Stories+ and setting it to Zoom mode (otherwise it's in a window that's way too tiny on modern screens)

microblogging meta

Microblogging platforms (like Mastodon or Twitter) don't allow you to distinguish between:
• a post
• a comment on a post
• a discussion

All three things are presented the same way and follow the same rules, unlike actual blogging platforms, or forums

The sky was a deep purple bruise.

I waited for the stars, I waited for the moon, I waited for wispy clouds.

Dread threatened to overwhelm me; would tonight be the night that they'd all fail to appear?

Moths flittered by unconcerned.

Trust the moths, I told myself, they know the moon is there.

And soon the lights in the sky became visible.

I relaxed; another normal night.

Sometimes I wished I was a moth instead of a surveillance drone.

"Prior to the Gregorian calendar, farmers in China and Japan broke each year down into 24 sekki or “small seasons.” These seasons didn't use dates to mark seasons, but instead, they divided up the year by natural phenomena"
