this is my newest work in early access as it gets build, it’s atmospheric horror walking sim.
i'm overqualified for most jobs on linkedin yet they can't bring me in because mr uk government says i can't generate value for their economy without paying them thousands of pounds to get a little piece of paper ^^; http://maple.pet/tech give me money
i wish i had disposable income to just throw at these problems but sadly i've been unemployed for 2 years now and stuck in immigration limbo which means i literally cannot look for work anywhere
i'm just really upset at myself because i tried so carefully to open the keyboard membrane latch and the whole thing came out in one fell swoop and like 3 lines had the carbon pad at the end completely sheared off. in trying to fix it i managed to make it worse. keyboard membranes suck! the whole thing is still good but just the one little connector end is ruined and you gotta bin the whole thing
i'm taking donations and/or commission work https://maple.pet/commissions https://ko-fi.com/squirrel

more train of thought:
…there’s that aspect of it too with how impermanent modern software is built to be (subscription only, cloud based, you never really own it…) that saving this old stuff is the only sense of control you have over the history of tools you used or how you digitally exist.
a train if thought reoccurring to me is that collecting old hardware, software, or games, has the same appeal as collecting old books. you feel like you are saving something meaningful. getting rid of it just feels wrong.
i have all this very old microsoft software. it’s completely useless but i can’t bring myself to get rid of it. even tho it’s been preserved elsewhere. it almost feels like throwing away a book.
@alienmelon we just lucked out getting someone else's entire amiga collection full of magazine coverdisks. they're all archived somewhere, but these are physically mine now, and i can poke around with them without having to deal with pulling from archives
@lexbailey hey i recognize that speccy
@NanoRaptor you're making my heart ache
i don't think i could ever own an iphone, even if one day i ever earn enough to afford one. it just stands against everything i strive for in computers. i don't understand people who own iphones exclusively much less people who develop iphone-only applications. i wish mastodon had twitter's ground breaking feature of disabling replies because i can already hear the fanboys coming
over on tumblr:
do you have any stories (original, fanfic, or published work) you've been thinking about lately?

community members are allowed to express hateful views with impunity, up to and including astonishing views such as endorsements of eugenics and calls for hate-motivated violence.
In one particular incident, the moderators of the Discord server engaged in a harassment campaign against a transgender user, including using their moderator privileges to edit the pronouns in their username from “they/she” to “who/cares”.
This quote from the interview clearly illustrates the attitude of the leadership:[A trans person] joined the Discord server and made a big deal out of their pronouns [..] because they put their pronouns in their nickname and made a big deal out of them because people were referring to them as “he” [misgendering them], which, on the Internet, let’s be real, is the default. And so, one of the moderators changed the pronouns in their nickname to “who/cares”. […] Let’s be real, this isn’t like, calling someone the N-word or something.
