The Apple II stayed productive for years after the Mac tried to run it out of town. It lived, thanks to AppleWorks, which proved how useful 8-bits and 128KB could be, despite 32-bit rumors to the contrary.

I gave it a spin, really wanting to put its promise of "integration" to the test, but struggled to figure out a good project. Then I heard about a program that turned AppleWorks into HyperCard, and my path was clear. Includes copious references to 1984 and turducken.

are you even foss if you don't defend to the doubling down death the 30 year old software naming choice of two tryhard edgelords based off of an inflammatory character in a movie directed by a foot fetishist who uses written self-inserts as an excuse to say racist slurs out loud

AI in the Linux Kernel & Linus Torvalds' complicity

The natural follow-up question is: How long until the other big thing Linus Torvalds made, Git, is turned to AI slop?

if i could have any useless superpower i think i would want to be perfectly aliased in pictures. as in if you ever tried to take a digital picture of me, every pixel either entirely contains part of me or doesn't. always a perfect 1bpp mask

Lukewarm take:

All build systems should be able to generate a image of the build flow graph and show it to you with a single command.

After a build, they should tell you by default where the artefacts are stored on disk at the end of the build log.

Slightly hotter take:

Build systems should have GUIs. The best GUIs would have built in debugging tools.

I would love to come to a project I'm new to and just be able to inspect the build system and understand it without needing to be an expert with the build system first.
