in case we aren't being clear we're lamenting the lack of digital worlds. second life exists but feels detached and unapproachable not to mention costly. avatar chats were everywhere in the 2000s and now it feels like they were just a footnote blip in online history. all we have now are corporate controlled instant messaging

being a digital being who lives online hurts when all the spaces i used to frequent are gone and nothing else today fits anymore

wondering if we would feel better if we had a space to exist in with easily switchable and expressive avatars but oh well it's no longer the 2000s where online interactions are fun anymore

do-release-upgrade fails because it wants to nuke every single package on the system because they require libc6 >= 2.29 whereas latest libc6 for 18.04 is 2.27 which sounds exactly like canonical

tried manually installing libc6 2.31 and now the cunt's fucked, thank fuck for the oversight to make a full disk backup

hm can't upgrade unless i remove python2 and removing that removes nodejs. fun dependency hell

@arielmt you might be able to reinstall just the bootloader but like, it's not a particularly fun process (ask me how i know)

@david_chisnall I don't currently have a 5.25" drive but that could change 🤔 i'm much more interested in the 3.5" ones though

i'm located in Devon and have a fair few bits of hoarding... i mean collection, the floppies could certainly be gone to a good home :)
