@selectric it's abandonware but honestly the best non-itunes experience we've had managing an ipod library

@selectric we use foo_dop and it converts it for us when we add them to the ipod

why can't we sort artists without articles? why can't the screen turn off and go into low power mode without a hard shut down of the system? why can't i make menu go up a level instead of previous track?

the answer to most of these is because someone in 2007 said so

rockbox is infuriating not in a way that makes me want to fork it and fix it but rather in a way that makes me want to just use the stock ipod os instead

@lmorchard am i having deja vu again or have you already made this post months ago

@wildweasel at first it makes a robot beep and then the next time it makes a "cut that out"

@lion i usually just go for the intersection of whatever looks good in the openwrt compatibility chart and is available used on ebay

i bought a tenda router probably close to ten years ago and it wasn't great but also that was close to ten years ago and it wasn't a model supported by openwrt. i usually go for tp-link just because that's what i know

i love to be infantilized by people who are adamant they are the first and only people to tell me i shouldn't be putting a windows xp computer on the internet

RDPing from a windows xp computer into a windows 10 computer is not something that feels like it should be possible, and yet

A new article from me:
I’ve been around for decades of discourse about the GIMP, and it’s high time to retire this conversation forever. I’ll contribute my last word on it:

"Jack, we've heard about Apple's new 'folding' smartphone, which is expected to sell for around $2,000. How will Atari compete in that space?"

"Our folding phone will be more powerful, easier to use, less expensive, and available through mass-market retailers. And you can be damn sure any money we make from our phones won't be used to finance Nazis."

In researching my next issue, I've been reviewing several articles about a CEO from the late 80s/early 90s who happens to be a trans woman. What's interesting is that none of the articles mentioned she's trans. Some mentioned that she's a lesbian, but none of the writers thought her being trans was notable. And there were several articles written about her before she transitioned, so it wasn't some big secret.

Could you imagine how she'd be covered now? On second thought, maybe don't.
