Happy Tax Panic Day, USA!
The day we suddenly remember that we need to take numbers the state and federal governments gave us, work some simple arithmetic in complicated formulas for them for reasons involving tax prep industry lobbying, give those numbers back to them, and hope they get the same results when they do the same math.
I don't think I posted this before... A while ago I reverse-engineered the game Lode Runner (1982) for the Apple ][. The result is a literate document, which is a document you run through a filter one way to get compilable code, and another way to get a PDF explaining how it all works.
You can get the PDF and the rest here: https://github.com/RobertBaruch/lode_runner_reveng

The recent attempted XZ Utils backdoor (CVE-2024-3094) may not be an isolated incident as evidenced by a similar credible takeover attempt intercepted by the OpenJS Foundation, home to JavaScript projects used by billions of websites worldwide. The Open Source Security (OpenSSF) and OpenJS Foundations are calling all open source maintainers to be alert for social engineering takeover attempts, to recognize the early threat patterns emerging, and to take steps to protect their open source projects.openssf.org/blog/2024/04/15/open-source-security-openssf-and-openjs-foundations-issue-alert-for-social-engineering-takeovers-of-open-source-projects/
I need to switch between four different Teams organisations every day. When I’m in org #1, there’s a 1/3 chance that the org switcher will display org #4 twice. This does not happen in other orgs. How do you even do this.
The new Teams app seems to work, and yet they managed to rename the Files tab to OneDrive without fixing any of its UX warts.
Yes, I definitely want you to reorder the file list while I am clicking on a file, that’s very helpful.
WHERE THE WEB IS GOING: The convergence of LLMs and web advertising will lead to "ads" consisting of several hundred gigabytes of javascript containing a (weighted) neural network designed to generate unique per-user video advertisements—generated on your computer at your expense to ensure the imagery is unique and evades AI-based ad-blockers.
"AI spam" is an entire AI, squatting on your CPU and making it glow dull red as it works out how to capture your attention.
Welcome to the spamularity.
I made a gaming mouse completely from scratch, completely open source, because gaming mouse companies don't care that their switches keep dying after only a few months.

Also I'm begging my fellow transes, especially the ones that have academic influence, to stop telling the cisses that sex is biological and gender is social lol. They're both social.
@mrconorae @Qyriad you just nerd sniped me into spending almost an hour on this joke, I hope you're happy
tbh if i was making the default config for a server os i would disable /proc/xxx/mem. if you have rce but no privilege escalation there'd be lots of fun you could have with it otherwise
so i tested it (https://gist.github.com/hikari-no-yume/ea99e733f6d99cb9b43c5680b3245a51) and apparently modern-ish linux doesn't let you read other processes' memory without root access. but the file permissions suggest i should be able to. is this like a selinux thing or a kernel default or what. ubuntu 20.04 lts btw
