cool fact: the original luddites didn’t oppose technology but rather the bosses using new tech to disenfranchise workers! the bosses then had the luddites murdered in the streets and their arguments were replaced with “tech bad 🤢” to prevent others from carrying on their challenge to industrial authorities

I've released version 2.0.0 of my RSS to ActivityPub converter! This now provides functionality I'd hacked in to rss.friend.camp - it requires OAuth 2.0 authorization for someone to create a new AP account for an RSS feed.

I used to run this service "in the open" but was overwhelmed by spammers. Now the admin of a Mastodon (or Pleroma or any federated server that is an OAuth 2 provider) can provide this converter as a service solely to members of their instance.

Welcome to the World Wide Web. A technology designed primarily to link pages of HTML-structured text together and reference them with a unique identifier, which we now frequently use to share text by turning it into images and posting them to web servers via an API that only accepts JSON

Indigenous Peoples' Day (& Columbus)

No one thought the Earth was flat. The literate knew it's round & how big around (except for some conspiracy theorists relying on obvious unit conversion errors), and the uneducated never traveled far enough to know or care.

Indigenous Peoples' Day (& Columbus)

The dumbass mariner you celebrate wasn't even right about the size of the Earth. Columbus was wrong by the science and mathematics of the age, not just by modern science. That's a hell of an albatross around your holiday's neck.

Indigenous Peoples' Day (& Columbus)

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day.

This is your annual reminder that the only thing Columbus discovered was new peoples for him, his crew, and his sponsors to extort, exploit, and enslave. It is a legacy very much worth remembering but not at all worth celebrating.

Avi missing on the web, Tusky has probably cached it for me cause I can see it there, I'll upload it again after work

@arielmt do you know what could have happened?

internet guy: human nature is we're all animals who eat each other and fuck things up, civilization isn't natural

actual humans in nature: this kinda sucks, what if we started working together and farming and building houses

BEWARE: As Halloween gets closer, police are warning parents to LOOK at your child’s candy before they eat it. Some houses are reportedly handing out Amber bear amulets of neolithic hunters, 1700-650 BCE, found in Slupsk, Poland

All the "piracy is bad" takes remind me of that time the RIAA claimed Limewire owed them $75 trillion for piracy.

More than the entire world's annual GDP.

More than the whole industry made since the phonograph's invention in 1877.
