@mfashby well, if you're looking at the number of instances, then mastodon represents over 50% of all instances

if you look at number of reported instance users, then mastodon counts for more than 70% of all instance users

@mfashby i already had that from pasting fediverse.network data into a spreadsheet

i just rushed right past 666 toots without even taking a screenshot

this feels like a missed opportunity

i have a strong dislike of reply guys

can i delete them?

the fact that the majority of the servers in the fediverse are powered by a single software project is something that i consider to be a weak point in the system

is a decentralized system dominated by a single platform truly decentralized?

shut up unsplash. i'll make my code just as terrible as my dancing and you can't stop me

@lynnesbian @ben some things are adopted as standard practices without some standards body enforcing the conventions and that is fine, organic and completely valid

if every single programming convention had to have a corresponding standard before being adopted, then we would still be using assembly due to the tremendous friction that this would add to the development of software

you know, neither pleroma nor mastodon are perfect. pleroma needs image captions, although it already supports adding them from the mastoFE so really it's a minor issue because you don't have to use the pleromaFE. mastodon needs nodeinfo, which is the best kind of glaring omission because users don't notice it missing and blame other software for not working with mastodon when it's really mastodon's fault for not working with everyone else. they're both equally flawed

@Lumb hmmm, ok that's really really strange

i will say that i noticed some federated timeline quirks as well when i tried pleroma, but i didn't end up having the patience to solve them or ask for help, tbh

i really don't understand why Hereditary is the one horror movie that every cishet white person i know rushes to recommend when i ask for horror movie recommendations

i can't even get more recommendations after that one because we start debating immediately afterwards bc i saw it and i didn't think it was very good

@DarkWitchClaire hahaha

i don't make caw posts nearly enough

though, i'm wondering. if i make a post saying 'caw' then is that a caw out post? :blobhyperthink:

that awkward moment when you look at your own toots and realize that your boost to own post ratio is really terribly skewed

People who are willing to admit that the fediverse is overwhelmingly white, but not that most of our chosen entertainment is cultural appropriation, scare the heck out of me.

for me, programming is just an excuse to solve puzzles while listening to music that i enjoy

good moring :bun:

been a little low on social spoons the last few days, so I haven't really been around that much, but I should now be slowly getting back to my normal posting habits :T
