@bea remember all the crap about my animated avatar getting that white frame on remote instances? it probably came from there if whoever made the emoji used that old avatar before i fixed it

just copy mine, i made that one with the original source image

okay, docker images purged, rebuilt, now going to attempt assets precompile and db migrate again...

since the problem that we just ran into was no space left on disk when starting the process with 3gb free, i'm gonna go ahead and assume 14gb will be enough for the instance to update, and leave it running overnight
