crud, ThinkPad had 2x1gb rather than 1x2gb so i only managed to get it up to 3gb

upped java ram to 2gb for minecraft and trying again to load the server

managed to log into my modded server, see one frame of rain with no terrain loaded, then it got stuck on that dirt background. gonna open up an unused laptop to see if it has compatible ram
