I'll trace back which capacitor that one I suspected is, if it is in fact the 5vsb output, I'm pretty sure that would fix it
however, the replacement cap I have, while similarly rated, is not high-ESR, so it's probably not a great fix
even then, at least it would keep this psu on its last legs while I wait for its replacement??
you know what?

this whole article is very similar to what i'm having
the old phenom I built with this psu back in 2011 did not use 5vsb constantly
This new AM4 motherboard however, keeps 5vsb powering USB devices constantly, and I in fact used one of them to power an USB night light while my computer was off
That might've worn down the 5vsb output, which would explain a single output cap failing...
@Elizafox Yeah
the thermaltake replacement cost R$240
@Elizafox not a 500w one with EPS and PCIe connectors
@Elizafox i mean, i already ordered a replacement
i just want to try to see if i can get my desktop running without waiting for it
though honestly i think i doubt that the issue is a single capacitor failure and without an oscilloscope and a thorough study of the pcb, i probably won't find the real issue with the psu
@bea mm i think i will,
best case scenario i give my computer a few more working hours until the new psu gets here
worst case i guess the psu blows up but hopefully not the rest of my computer?
(also i deleted that toot to fix a typo sorry)
i already bought a new psu
... should i try repairing the old one anyway..?
by repairing i mean replacing that one capacitor i'm doubtful on, i have a good equivalent replacement
w-what's the worst that could happen ha ha ha (it could blow up)
i mean not really because this psu seems to have good fault protection and i don't think one replaced capacitor will change that
