call the computer fairies bbs today! 24/7 9600baud 1-800-BUTTS

100 frames, about 7 seconds per frame... i'll be sitting here for the next 12 minutes rendering i suppose

ok yeah if i just ingore tiled rendering for the gpu (make it as big as the image) it renders each frame in about 6 seconds heh

@impiaaa@dev.glitch.social well my set up is:
GPU RX 480: tile size 512x512 about 8 seconds to render a specific scene
CPU Ryzen 5 1600: tile size 64x64 12 threads about 7 seconds

before i tweaked the tile size for gpu it was much slower but i guess that was the reason why

still, i was expecting a way bigger gain? idk

@cambertian no the threadripper are the higher end ones, i have the 5 1600

this is weird because the rx 480 is apparently supposed to be way good at opencl rendering? is ryzen just that much better at cpu rendering in blender

@Terxbor i've never used maya or 3dsmax so this is lost on me sorry

i saved a blender 2.78c file, updated to blender 2.79, opened the file, lo and behold a whole object was missing because of some bullshit error that flashed by too quickly to know what it was and now i have to start all over again anyway

i love open source

@phoebee honestly it's up to you, depends on who you want to see those toots

Hello! It's #FollowFriday/#FF, so I just wanted to remind you: don't just blindly follow the people for whom you get recommendations. Remember to fully read people's bios and pinned toots! They often have important information (like "don't follow me unless we've had some conversations first").
