is there a better way to snapshot/backup a linux partition for later restoring than dd

clonezilla is a fuck

i don't understand what lvm is other than an option i didn't pick when installing because i didn't know it had to do with snapshotting

i haven't been able to use wire in the thinkpad for so long that it probably can't even finish decrypting messages anymore if it wanted to ugh

wire is like a really good thing with a lot lot lot of tiny horrible, horrible flaws
