Computer Fairies maintenance

And we're back! Please refresh to make sure you are on the latest version of the webpage.

Welcome to Mastodon v2.3.3!

In addition:
- The version number at the bottom of the about page now properly links to our fork!
- We're still using the old style about page!
- There are now 2 other themes to pick from, Mastodon Default and Mastodon Light!

Happy tooting!

yo computer fairies are you ready for 2.3.3 to drop

@AfterdarkAdmin it originated from glitch.social and we cherrypicked their commits

erin@uss-voyager:/mnt/c/devel/mastodon/app/javascript/images$ ls preview.jpg
preview.jpg
erin@uss-voyager:/mnt/c/devel/mastodon/app/javascript/images$ rm preview.jpg
rm: cannot remove 'preview.jpg': No such file or directory

computer fairies is fucking haunted

ok i found it i just need to reintroduce these three lines in this file i think and hope i'm not fucking breaking everything because who knows am i right github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/

Show thread

when i get angry at things i write rambly posts with no punctuation in them because that's literally what i do irl, i just start rambling without pause because i need to vent in frustration

Show thread

i want to keep the media links because more than once i've had a post boosted onto my timeline where the poster removed the media link and the media didn't federate properly and the toot referenced an image that wasn't there unless you expanded the toot and there was a link to an embed with that random characters filename mastodon puts on images and it links to the image on the remote instance but the toot on my instance never had media in it

Show thread

so the mastodon commit which allows blank media toots also removes the media link insertion

i want to keep the insertion but also allow blank toots

ofc i can't have this unless i get elbow deep into the fucking mess that is mastodn ruby and javascript because both things are the same commit

SIGH

@chr@cybre.space i always see that spelled toot sweet

oh wait a second im a dummy

this doesn't include the git reverts i wanted to do for those stupid changes gargron approved uurgh

bundle install

yarn install

RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rails db:migrate

RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rails assets:precompile

@noelle oh it's not gonna visually change

it hasn't in a long time, either

i just mean the setup i'll put up with the 2.3.3 update

because now we have a light theme and the light theme has the same modifications as the computer fairies theme (rounded edges, maximized columns)

because reorganized the scss very neatly and just

i'm so proud of the organization in that folder now

haha i am so proud of my instance's scss setup right now
