explanation, if you want

@ratbaby viewport is whatever size window/display the page is being rendered in

being able to use either width or height as a proportional measurement in any styling opens up possibilities such as constraining a circle to be the same height and width, relative to the window width

before those units, you could only use % which is a percentage of that measurement alone, so width could be proportional to width and height could be proportional to height only

@mawr ive been in love with the audi quattro since i played Stunts on DOS as a kid

o yeah now that i have a $dayjob again expect me to start talking about webdev a lot,

TIL about using "vw" and "vh" (viewport width and height percentage) as measurements in css, which allows me to make proportional circle buttons that adapt to the screen size

god bless css3

@Jo hmm

i kinda wanna be able to select a bit of text and have different hotkeys for different filters to apply to it

that would be super cool..

@er1n well i think i wanna style it differently but im not creative enough for that so for starters i think id like to fix the broken things first

like the backlight level not persisting every time it dims from inactivity, lightdm conflicting with mate's lockscreen randomly and not making up its mind which one i should be presented it when coming out from a screensaver, etc...

(im gonna go ahead and bet such a program already exists, just nobody told me)

Show thread

someone ought to make a program that gives me a hotkey to change a selected bit of text to fullwidth because i doubt that googling "fullwidth" every time i want to write something in fullwidth is the smartest way to do it

If you have a couple bucks spare, I could use a hand. It's not an emergency, I'm just running low and don't have an income.

@er1n hey id still like your help figuring out the broken stuff in my linux next time you have some free time if you still wanna help me..

mh -

every time i reach into my bag and don't immediately find the thing im looking for i have a small panic attack because ive lost things and gotten pickpocketed enough to not trust my own self to come back home with everything i left it with every single day

@Agiri@masto.ninja just let me know if you get stuck and need help i guess

@Agiri@masto.ninja i'm at work and should be doing actual work instead of this or having a mental breakdown right now sadly

id only be able to take a look at it in around 6 hours from now when i get home but by then i'll be completely drained
