it totally was the dead battery that kept it from working

it's very much cold to the touch so i think i don't have to worry much about it rn

and yeah i guess i'm ok, it's not warming up or bulging (the bulge it has now is just from prying it away from the metal tray in the ipod, that thing was stuck HARD! and the tool i was using to try prying it off is what accidentally punched a hole in it eventually)
