@squeakycheetah every news source in the country will be reporting on the royal wedding and not much else today

Perfect day to put out bad news because nobody will be paying attention

Anyone happen to know what bad news the UK government tried to bury today?

uspol, gun violence

students or staff killed by guns in US schools in 2018 (so far): 31

US active duty military deaths in 2018 (so far): 29

The US Army, safer than going to school

@Inskora @soft_chomps@glitch.social yep, used to be Saxe-Coburg-Gotha

They changed it when the first world war kicked off in order to make them sound less German

snack overflow: the website for asking questions about snacks

@squirrel I love all the crazy things they used to add to their watches

For a start they basically invented the smart watch, they had watches that could pick up when your phone was going to ring and vibrate on your wrist, they had some with touch screens, some could control your tv and vcr, some you could play games on, some would work as a pedometer and count calories burned

All well before 2000

@squirrel that's a very fair point, I'd be using it for "hey, is that a signally thing coming out of there? OOOH WAVY LINES! IT'S A SIGNAL!" because quite frankly I don't understand electronics any deeper than that

And oh, a grand for a good one... yeah, I'll add that to the list of reasons I don't have one

@squirrel ah, shame

probably be better than nothing though and sod paying hundreds of pounds for a fancy one I'm going to use for 20 minutes once in a blue moon

@squirrel I'd say give it a try anyway, if it works with the new caps then you've saved a lot of effort, if it doesn't then you're out a few caps at most

@squirrel I'd give it a shot if you've got the capacitors easily available

@catgirl @noelle yeah, unfortunately I, like most cephalopods, have resting bitch face

@catgirl not in the slightest and I'm sorry if I've ever given that impression
