@evie purism (the laptop company) are doing some half arsed package of software including a social thing (all of which are quickly rebadged oss projects) and it sucks

@InspectorCaracal I can see a reason if they want to make it a coherent "here's a pack of all the stuff and it's all themed to work similar to each other so less tech-savvy users don't get confused"

Like all the "send/toot/post" buttons look the same and are in the same sort of places

A better way to rebadge an open source project for branding reasons is to put "powered by [project]" in the logo

So purism's social client would be "Librem Social, powered by Tusky"

We wouldn't yell at them (as much) for that

Fucking hell @purism

Even twitter and facebook have reporting functionality

@maple @purism shit, even facebook pretends to listen to reports at least

@revolverocelot Customs: okay, weirdly this is covered by both import restrictions on livestock and tariffs on robots... I need to talk to my supervisor

@revolverocelot I would also like to house the maple

Customs: "What's in the bag?"
Me: "Uh... computer?"
*sound from inside a duffel bag* maple: "beep!"
Customs: "If you could come this way please..."

@pup_hime I'm guessing the next line in the script is "so here's this bucket of dry ice we found"

Even if I had enough money to buy a Valve Index thingie (which I don't) and a reasonably well specced machine to run it (which I don't) I still don't think I'd go for one

I just hate goggles, they always interfere with me glasses

Yeah, I could probably get custom lens inserts made but that's even more money I don't have and have no intention of spending

@maple minimum recommended specification checkers are the hot new esport

One token to rule them all, one token to find them, one token to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

It's a Tolkien Ring network

Hopefully that was enough to avoid libel allegations but my legal team is in fact just a dozen hedgehogs piled up and wearing a suit so it might not be

I'm not saying that pleroma is exclusively used and developed by terrible people who make terrible posts (thanks to my legal team for that bit) but any time I see a new pleroma instance I do immediately think "ugh, what fresh bullshit do I have to block now"

@maple I've seen stuff like that happen before on other things, sometimes the colour spiders and cracks over time, I'd assume such a thing to be a reported issue though
