re: musk

@InspectorCaracal to be fair he has also donated reverse-osmosis filters to the schools so that the water there is drinkable

which doesn't actually fix the problem

seems to be a running theme with him, giving people all these things that don't solve their problem at all and expecting them to be all "oh thank you sir, you're our hero, please let us blow smoke up your arse"

musk

huh, elon musk has apparently donated a load of laptops to the Flint, Michigan school system

Think the kids would have probably preferred potable water though...

Because the fediverse is decentralised it means that if one instance goes down then the rest of the network can carry on until they get back up!

"wasabi broke"

fuck.

@codl I'm going to be charitable and assume this guy wrote one book and changed the ordering of stuff 14 times

basically the college textbook model

This is your occasional reminder that in retrospect Thomas Midgley Jr. probably shouldn't have been let anywhere near a research lab

If any of you are Transformers fans then there's a limited edition Transformers x G-SHOCK watch coming out in a couple of days

It comes with an Optimus Prime display stand thing

@c0debabe it was definitely some prick somewhere saying "I don't accept your counterfeit genders" or something to that effect but I can't remember who or where just that we all ended up riffing on it for most of a day

I can't remember quite where "counterfeit genders" came from but it always brings a giggle when I remember it

also yes I know your name is the "unicode consortium" but we all know people only care about the emojos

hey emojo consortium, zero width joiners to have emojos driving vehicle emojos please

Present wrapping tip: save money, time, and effort by wrapping gifts to people in brown paper no matter what the occasion

You don't have to go and buy <event> themed wrapping paper, it's cheap, thicker than the standard wrapping paper, more forgiving when you mess up, and it comes in massive rolls so one order will get you enough paper for the next decade

Also if you use it with brown masking tape and brown card labels it looks like you're going for a theme rather than just being a lazy sod
